Ed Kern has a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He is an Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM). He is secretary of the Phoenix chapter of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI). He believes that diligence, efficiency, communication, and innovation are all vital for the success of engineering projects.
Ed has worked on a wide variety of projects including area drainage master studies, FEMA Zone A floodplain mapping, and sediment transport studies. As the Hydraulic and Hydrologic Analyst at HELM Consultants, Ed’s professional focus is on utilizing the most current technology to perform analysis and design on engineering projects. He always strives to understand the client’s needs and how those needs fit into the big-picture. He believes that being adaptable is how to ensure the ongoing success of engineering projects. That through technically sound engineering, we can add tremendous value to the communities we serve.
