Waste to Energy

Cities have expressed an increasing interest in identifying ways to develop resources from their solid waste stream. Chief among them is energy, especially in liquid form to fuel vehicles. HELM is currently working with major cities on closed loop systems that consist of diverting certain solid waste categories away from the landfill to be converted into various forms of energy such as liquid bio-fuel, natural gas, and electricity. At this time, HELM’s focus is that portion of solid waste consisting of green organic material that can be sent through various processing technologies including gasification, pyrolysis, or a biodigester.
